Admission Policy


The Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Master's Course) seeks individuals who have acquired the skills listed below.

Profile of Prospective Students

In the Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Master's Course), we are looking for the following types of students:

1 Individuals who aspire to make a wide range of contributions to various issues from the local to the global level.
2 Individuals who aim for interdisciplinary research that integrates expertise in drug discovery and development.
3 Individuals who advance cutting-edge, original research and disseminate research findings.
4 Individuals who acquire expertise in drug discovery and development and develop problem-solving abilities that can adapt to the progress of science.
5 After admission, individuals who actively and independently acquire the expertise and research-conducting ability required for problem-solving in the fields of drug discovery and development.

Screening Policy

In order to enroll a wide and diverse range of individuals, we conduct general entrance examinations and special entrance examinations for foreign students on multiple dates.

Screening Method

We evaluate applicants through written exams, external English tests, and interviews, measuring the academic ability and suitability for study in the Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Master's Course).

Screening Process

(1)General Entrance Examination: This is an entrance examination targeting all those who wish to enroll in the Master's Course. We impose written exams, external English tests, and interviews. In the written exam, we evaluate scientific foundational academic ability and problem-solving ability related to drug discovery and development, and logical thinking ability【Specialized Ability, Implementation Ability, and Inquiry Ability】. English ability is evaluated based on the results of the external English test. Along with application documents and interviews, we comprehensively judge the attitude of active learning, the capacity to engage in pharmaceutical research, and Communication Ability【Inquiry Ability, Liberal Arts Ability, and Communication Ability】.
(2) Special Entrance Examination for Foreign Students: We require a written exam, an external English test, and an interview. In the written exam, we evaluate scientific foundational academic ability and problem-solving ability related to drug discovery and development, and logical thinking ability【Specialized Ability, Implementation Ability, and Inquiry Ability】. English ability is evaluated based on the results of the external English test. Along with application documents and interviews, we comprehensively judge the attitude of active learning and the capacity to engage in pharmaceutical research【Inquiry Ability, Liberal Arts Ability】. In the interview, we also evaluate Japanese language ability required for conducting research【Communication Ability】.

Prior to Enrollment

・Scientific foundational academic ability related to drug discovery and development required for conducting research, equivalent to bachelor’s degree level.
・English ability required to read specialized English articles in the field of expertise.
