Weight Training Club Takes 3rd Place in the All-Japan Team Competition! Already Vowing Revenge for Next Year

December 06, 2024

On November 16–17, Okayama University's Weight Training Club achieved 3rd place in the team competition at the 51st All-Japan University Powerlifting Championship for the Minister of Education’s Cup, held at the Tsushima campus in the second gymnasium. The club had entered this competition aiming for their 15th time in 2 consecutive years team victory, but despite their efforts, they were unable to fend off fierce competition from national rivals, leaving them with a sense of regret.

In the individual competition, 113 athletes from 23 universities, who had advanced through regional qualifiers, participated. Okayama University was represented by 14 athletes. The individual results were as follows:

KAWAHARA Miu (4th year, School of Engineering) took 2nd place in the women’s 52kg category
OKA Ayumi (2nd year, School of Letters) earned 3rd place in the same women’s 52kg category
IURA Nana (2nd year, School of Engineering) placed 3rd in the women’s 63kg category
