From July 8 to 15, the Course of Agrochemical Bioscience, School of Agriculture, and the Graduate School of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology, Okayama University held a Sakura Science Program sponsored by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). A total of 8 researchers from the University of Carthage in Tunisia, including 5 graduate students, 2 postdoctoral researchers, and 1 faculty member were invited. The program focused on the research of "Transporter Proteins Involved in Regulation of Plant Environmental Stress Tolerance."
This program aimed to cultivate international researchers, providing the participants with hands-on experience in cutting-edge experimental techniques related to plant science, a field in which Okayama University excels. The participants were particularly intrigued by electrophysiological experiments using single cells and vacuoles.
During the program, undergraduate and graduate students of Okayama University actively engaged with the Tunisian researchers and presented their own research projects in English.
The program not only facilitated the sharing of the educational and research achievements of Okayama University, but also provided a valuable opportunity for international exchange between young researchers from both universities.
