At award ceremony during the annual meeting of the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) held in Hawaii, USA from June 22 to 26, Professor Jian Feng Ma of the Institute of Plant Science and Resources (IPSR) was awarded the Dennis R. Hoagland Award.
Founded in 1924, the ASPB, is the largest plant-related academic society in the world with over 4,000 members. The Dennis R. Hoagland Award, named after Hoagland (1884-1949) for his outstanding contributions to the field of plant nutrition, was established in 1985. This award is presented every three years to researchers selected from around the world.
Professor Ma has conducted extensive research on the mineral transport mechanisms in plants for many years, pioneering the identification of numerous mineral transporters and elucidating their regulatory mechanisms ahead of the global research community. His outstanding achievements have been highly recognized with this prestigious award.
In 2016, Professor Ma was also honored with the ASPB's Lifetime Honorary Membership Award.
