On May 12, students of the Discovery Program for Global Learners (GDP) formed an executive committee and held the multicultural food event "The World Kitchen 2024 in Spring" at Shimoishii Park in Kita-ku, Okayama City.
The students prepared for the event with the hope of expanding the circle of multicultural exchange throughout Okayama City by taking advantage of the international nature of the GDP program and the students' involvement in the community and society. Additionally, the students use this event as an opportunity to promote local businesses and strengthen the Okayama community.
On the day of the event, 23 booths were set up by restaurants and stores offering cuisine from around the world in Okayama Prefecture. Bustling with activity from start to finish, the lively event attracted approximately 500 visitors.
Chairperson OKADA Nana (GDP 2nd year) remarked, "Many GDP students participated as volunteers on the day, and I believe that a multicultural exchange centering on GDP students was created within the streets of Okayama."
The committee plans to hold "The World Kitchen 2024 in Autumn" on November 9 and 10.
