本校于10月3日，秋季入学仪式在创立五十周年纪念馆举行，新入学的28名Global Discovery Program学生和130名研究生开始了大学新生活。
　继去年之后，为了防止新冠疫情，在将出席者仅限于新生和校内相关人员的基础上，对出席者的身体状况确认等细致的防疫对策。
　另外，当天由舟桥弘晃常务副校长代读校长的致辞「As a student studying at a research university promoting the SDGs, we hope that you will learn many new things with your friends and colleagues that will enable you to produce and deliver innovative discoveries, skills, and applications to the world. With that purpose in mind, please enjoy the opportunities to experience the history and culture of the Okayama region as well as its rich natural environment. （作为在推进SDGs的研究大学学习的学生，希望大家能创造出创新的发现、技术、应用，向世界传递信息，和大家一起学习很多新的东西。为此，请感受冈山县历史、文化、丰富自然的机会）”激励了新生们。
　新生代表Global Discovery Program铃木樱子「As the incoming class of 2022, we pledge to work together toward solving ongoing global and societal issues while respecting each other’s values. （我们作为2022年的新生，在尊重彼此价值观的同时，发誓为解决目前正在发生的全球性社会课题而合作）”。
