Taxonomy and conservation of threatened molluscan species
More than 500 molluscan species in fresh and brackish waters and the inner bays of Japan are endangered due to shore protection policies, land reclamation, and water pollution. Many undescribed species unrecognized by human beings are threatened because of their minute size. Therefore, basic examinations of molluscan taxonomy and their habitats are done in the laboratory of conservation of aquatic biodiversity.
